Visiting Exabytes in Penang

Recently, I was in Penang for the Cuti Santai event and met up with a lot of great Internet marketers from Malaysia. On the final day I decided to visit Exabytes’ office in Bayan Lepas, with Zamri Nanyan.

Probably the largest web hosting company in Malaysia, I admire Exabytes for their success and thought I can get some inspiration by visiting their office.

Their office was reasonably huge and looks cool, as you may expect for a technology company.

Exabytes has an affiliate program (they call it Angel Program) that you can join to promote their web hosting services. In fact they have two separate programs, one for the international market and the other for the Malaysian market.

My goal for this year is to grow our company as big as possible, with a big project to keep our growth rate up, and smaller projects to provide valuable cash flow. For that reason alone, the visit to Exabytes truly inspired me to push forward and achieve bigger things in 2011.

Bye to Exabytes, On To Our Own Server

InternetMillionaires.com.my has seen it’s fair share of problems in the past few weeks. A lot of members complained that they did not receive email, website down, slow downloads etc.

After some research, it all boils down to our shared hosting account on Exabytes. Recently, we also got an email from Exabytes to stop not send out more than 1,000 emails a day or they will shut us down. Unfortunately our membership base has increased to over 1,600 members and posed a problem.

Therefore the only solution we had, was to move back to our own dedicated server.

Our initial expectation hosting this site with Exabytes was because we were able to obtain a Malaysian IP address. This would not only mean that search engines would see our site as more Malaysia-oriented, but also ensure better access to Malaysians if the international Internet gateways were down. However, now we see the advantages of bringing it back to our own dedicated server.

So we’re working towards eliminating all existing problems with our site, in order for it to grow more in the future.
