Professional Photographs Drastically Improve Your Branding

by Gobala Krishnan on March 16, 2009

If you noticed one thing about most people with their own website – their pictures are always terrible. I would say the majority of the photos I’ve seen are taken in parties, by a low-quality camera, or even cropped out from a group of other people.

There’s no issues with that, but I think internet marketing as a whole has already started to head towards mainstream business. You need to step up your branding efforts and take professional photographs of yourself to use in your press release, websites and almost everywhere else.

That’s what I did last weekend, and as you can see even the unedited photographs are really really good:

WOW_5354wn

WOW_5324en

WOW_5416

If you’re in Malaysia, you can head on to WOW Photos and get their studio package. For just about RM150 / hour you get unlimited shots in a professional studio by a professional photographer (same guys who did my engagement and wedding photos)

Great for individuals and groups. Go prepared with an idea of what you want, but Hafiz will also help you out by suggesting poses that look great.

Let’s face it, your photos probably suck too. It’s about time you improved on your image and branding, and I’m pretty sure it will have a direct impact on your income too.

Though I do agree that pro photos do add to the professionalism of a blog, it seems that there are times when everyday pics (ones you take yourself) adds a sense of personality to a blog or individual post.

I’ve also noticed that many (including me) bloggers try to keep away from adding pics of themselves on their blogs. I always felt that I didn’t want people knowing me that way. But since I’ve started to use pics and personal videos, the readership did increase. people can now connect with the writer.

Regards

Chris

p.s. I’ve tested both professional pics and ones I take myself for my Caribbean cuisine culture blog (http://www.caribbeanpot.com) and it seems that the ones with the pics I take myself is getting more clickthroughs (read).

You’re correct. Time is right for all IM people to get their professional portfolio done. Or atleast get 3-4 nice shots done which they can use on their sites.

Really good result. The current yellow background profile photo of yours, came from the same studio too?

hi Kay, yes the same guys but the yellow series was taken outdoors. I think I prefer indoors as there is more lighting control plus I sweat a lot :)
