Hey Gobs,

Great new years resolution... I feel that it is easier to plan a smaller, achievable (or ongoing) goal than to create visions of grandeur only to fail when you try and bite off more than you can chew.

I'd just like to comment on the part about participation in big launches...

I totally agree with you regarding the logic behind participating in big launches - it IS too competitive. The argument is sound. People are probably spending more money than they make when they offer too many bonuses for big launches.

When Vince and Edmund launched IM Guerilla 3 hours ago, I realized that I haven't gotten any sales yet. And it's no surprise because as you know, my list is only a small fraction compared to most marketers.

I knew that it defied the mathematical feasibility because I could easily make 10 times the amount from my copywriting services.

But here's the funny thing...

There is one thing about big launches that attracts me to it like a moth to a flame...

-> It's the competitive spirit.

I don't know. Call me crazy or insane. Nothing gives me a better adrenaline rush than trying to beat marketers with bigger lists in those contests even though during the pre-launch phase, every fiber in my body feels that the odds are always stacked against me.

I felt the same way too when I was promoting PLRGold5 because I was giving an arm and a leg away (for my bonuses).

Yet somehow, it was a miracle that I finished 9th place.

Although the commissions was nothing to shout about, I felt that it was one of the happiest moments in my Internet marketing career.

In reference to your previous post about passion, I guess I'm doing the same thing with big launches... I feel really passionate about promoting big launches - especially when it is done by my friends!

My point is, I just want to prove to myself that I can:
- Go all out for my good friends during their big launches
- Hold my ground even when I'm heavily outnumbered
- Find something exciting to do in Internet marketing

After all, I feel that Internet marketing would be too boring if affiliate contests and the competitive camaraderie are absent.

Hmm, I wonder if I can win again this time :P

Just my 2 cents :)
