Maybank2U Phishing Scams Picking Up

Maybank2U phishing scams are on the rise – I’m sure everyone here using Maybank2u would see messages like this. But what does “phishing” mean? Not its not catching fish.

Phishing according to Wikipedia:

Phishing is the criminally fraudulent process of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details, by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.

In other words, someone is posing a legitimate business, by sending you fake emails and asking you to click on them. When you do click on them, you will see a website that looks almost like the real one. In this case, you may see a website that looks perfectly like a Maybank2u website, but it’s fake. If you end up entering your name and password inside it, the scammer will get access to your details and be able to login to your Maybank2u account.

Phishing scams are also very common with Paypal users, I still get phishing emails till today and there is nothing much Paypal can do about it. For more information on phishing, you can download and read the guide below, which I wrote back in 2005 but updated recently.
