I Escaped The Kluang Floods

For those that know, I actually come from a very small town in south Malaysia, called Kluang.

(Small town boy with big dream – you know how that one goes)

Last week I headed back to Kluang, Johor to visit my parents, and I managed to stop by Singapore on a day trip. From the moment I stepped on Singaporean soil, till the moment I decided to escape to my cost apartment in KL, it rained like %^&*.

See the video above?

My parents live in a shop lot which is about 400-500 meters away from the overflowing river. This happened on the day I left actually.

Thank god, this was about as bad as it got! My parents were confidently going about their business, almost certain that the floods will not reach them.

This time, it didn’t.

Hi, Great pictures. The flood reminded me when we used to live in Jalan Mersing Kluang, oh, so long ago. Like you I escaped the floods And Kluang to go to school in S’pore And Malaysia to study in UK. Then we all escaped to Australia (Oz). Oz is agreat place, still looking for migrants especially if they speak English and have a profession or even a trade (e.g. chef, hairdresser) or have a degree. Best of all lot of opportunity and no discrimination as we have 200 (yes,200)natioanlities living together. Anyone from Kluang interested, send me a brief email at “ausmigration@iprimus.com.au” about yourself and I will be in touch. Thanks.

Cool. Better than view live news from local TV channels. Keep it up.:P

Wow, the flood is really bad. I’ve also seen this on TV. Its amazing that we dont have proper irrigation systems but we are able to send people to space. Look at it from the positive side, maybe we are trying to promote Johor to tourist as having the most number of mega “swimming pools” in the world. It will be even bigger than Sunway Lagoon.

  4. Wow, that looks crazy!

Glad to hear everybody is OK.
