Streamyx Problems Connecting to International Sites

As much as I’d like to keep today’s free teleseminar on schedule, it seems that the Streamyx connection in my area (Sunway) is very bad. According to Streamyx support, this problem only effects access to sites outside Malaysia but I’m not sure how true this is. InternetMillionaires.com.my is also hosted in Malaysia but I seem to be having problems access the blog admin and other parts of the site.

According to the Streamyx support, this issue should be solved by midnight today but I am not taking any chances since the teleseminar service is hosted outside Malaysia, and the last thing I want is to be disconnected every few minutes. A new date will be announced as soon as possible.

So we’ll have to wait till the connection is smooth again. Are you experiencing any problems?

10 Most Viral You Tube Videos in 2007

What does it take to create a video that goes completely viral and ends up being seen by over 20 million eyeballs?

Hannes Johnson compiled a neat list of the Top 10 viral videos of 2007, with some honorable mentions that didn’t make it to the top 10 but nevertheless were quite viral.

I’ll just the list the one liked the most here:

What does it take to make a viral video that does 20million + views? I don’t know, you tell me! I’ll buy your ebook if you can show me hoe.

New Home Of The Malaysian Revolution

A warm welcome form the bottom of my heart for all members. This is the new home of the “Malaysian Revolution” site and with all the added features, I hope I can help you build a better online business in Malaysia.

With this new site, everything in centralized with a single login and password for all main areas of the site:

  • All your purchases and payments
  • Access to download areas
  • Access to teleseminars page
  • Access to the discussion forum
  • Access to the blog as a contributor

As such, the old site will no longer be in use and the entire domain name will only redirect to this new site.

However, with the new version of the site, all Bahasa Melayu version have been removed. We will no longer continue with Bahasa Melayu version of the interviews, teleseminars, ebooks and other material. From my past experience, it is way too expensive and time-consuming to translate everything from English to Bahasa Melayu, and it is just not worth it.

So for all my friends who can only speak / read in Bahasa Melayu, I’m very sorry. As much as I try to cater to this market, it has proven too difficult and non-profitable.

Right now, the only place you can get tips or help only in Bahasa Melayu is at the forum.

I’m Publishing a New Book

Ever since I came back from the US, I hardly posted anything on my blog. The reason – I was so caught up in preparing the first draft for my physical book, scheduled for publication in January 2007.

The book is about – you guessed it – making money online, and the tentative title is “The New Milionaires”. This book is specifically targeted to the Malaysian market.

I’ve been a bad, bad Internet marketer and blogger recently by not posting for almost a month. Well, I’m not dead yet and that’s why I wrote this – to let you know!

The good news is that I’ve been really working at other projects, including a redesign of EasyWordpress.com and hosting a new giveaway event happening soon, at DiwaliGiveaway.com

I’ve also been working on Easy Audio Products and the much-delayed update on WordPress Adsense System, while monitoring the development of Awesome Popup.

Nod32 Clearly The Best Anti-Virus Software

I won’t say it unless it was true.

As far as anti-virus software is concerned, I’ve tried a few. I started with Norton Antivirus, then to ZoneLabs, PC-cilin, McAffee, AVG and also Norman antivirus. Most of the time, all these software do is impose a lot of strain on your computer’s resources.

By starting a lot of scans in the background, it slows down your PC. ZoneLabs even cause some errors on my PC and the longer I kept it on, the slower it became.

It was my friend Vince that introduced me to Nod32, and I downloaded the trial version for my laptop, later also installing it on my PC.

Ok I know the diagram above looks complicated but all these things happen almost without you noticing at all. Now I have two licenses for my laptop and PC, and the performance of my PC is noticeably better. It starts-up faster, shuts down faster, and has overall improved speed.

WIS Warrior Members Gathering

I have not been posting for a while, was away at the World Internet Summit Singapore from 25-30 May. The entire event was filled with so much fun, beginning with a pre-WIS meeting organized by Warrior Forum members.

Admittedly, I am rather inactive in the Warrior Forum but that will definitely change soon. In fact, during the gathering I declared that I “average 3 posts a year on the Warrior Forum” and that’s the truth :)

Anyway, here are some pictures from the Warrior Members gathering.

Smartzul from Malaysia, a prolific Malay-medium blogger who blogs about making money online.

Edmund Loh and James B. Allen. James is always smiling and really funny, a very nice guy and I’m glad I met him.

Ladan Lashkari from Iran. Yes, she really is as good looking as the picture on her blog. The Internet marketing world needs more women :)

Ian Del Carmen from the Philippines. Owner of Fireball Planet and a slick online marketer.

Hafiz & Najmi from Malaysia, owners of Cheapest Covers

And to all the other Warrior members who I couldn’t take a picture with on that day. It was a really great experience meeting everyone.

Ladan Lashkari Internet Marketer from Iran

In Malaysia, a lot of people are quick to give excuses on why it’s so difficult to make money on the Internet.

My friend Khai said on his blog of a particular incident:

At that time we were asked to sit in a large circle and discuss what are the major problems faced when starting your Internet business for the first time. My girlfriend and I were sitting there stumped, unsure what to say as we were swamped by the whole thing.

I kept on hearing complaints about how to start a Paypal account in Malaysia. People kept on discussing about it until Fabian had to interrupt them and get them to stick to the important issues.

Way before I wrote the Paypal for Malaysians ebook, I already heard all those complaints. In fact I still hear them today. A couple of cheapskate Malaysians discussing how to create a free website, find a bank that does not charge them anything, free payment processor, free ebooks, free seminars, free this, free that…

When in fact, most of them should really be focusing on more important issues.

And today I learnt about Ladan Lashkari, a young woman from Iran who is actively building her Internet business with no complaints at all. You’ll be able to tell from her life story that it was not a joy ride for her either, but she’s not complaining :)

Some parts of the story:

Although you wouldn’t know it from her articles and sales letters, Ladan was not born into an English-speaking family. She started learning the language at eight years of age, and devoured every English book she could get her hands on.

Even at such a young age, she began to realize that her fluency in English would open up more doors of opportunity throughout her life. Throughout her teen years, this fervor grew as she tackled the language head-on.

A true entrepreneur, she decided that she wanted to become independent and produce her own income. When her family bought a computer, she quickly began experimenting with ways she could turn it into an income stream. She tried all kinds of business; teaching Windows, graphic designing with PhotoShop, website design, and even learned C++ programming.

Even though she was able to make money through those avenues, she knew that there was a bigger opportunity out there.

At sixteen years of age, she discovered the world of Internet marketing through the late Cory Rudl’s website. She bought and studied his internet marketing course, along with other ebooks and resources.

She knew right away that THIS was the business she wanted to be in.

Some of the problems she has faced:

  • She has limited rights as a woman in Iran
  • She couldn’t get a credit card.
  • She can’t open a PayPal account.
  • She can’t get a merchant account
  • She can’t have a bank account in US dollars
  • She can’t cash any USD checks.
  • She can’t travel / get a visa to many countries

The good news is that she will be at World Internet Summit in Singapore. So I wish her all the best, hopefully I’ll get some inspiration from her story. And hopefully, you will too..

Read her complete life story here.

The Value of Your Time

My friend Steven has written a good post about the value of your time. Obviously psyched-up after the Bob Proctor event!

If you know what your time is worth, you will not hesitate to outsource any activity that is not worth your time.

I always have this argument with my girlfriend. When she find out how much I pay someone for their work / for a certain software, she says..

Isn’t that expensive? Why do you pay so much…

“Expensive” or not depends on your own judgment. Is spending USD100 to have someone do a transcript for me “expensive” when I can spend 4-5 hours doing it myself?

I think not..

A Series of Unfortunate Events

Bad luck seems to be the order of the month. In fact I’ve had some of my worst luck for the last one week of February and the first week of March.

First Event

Some idiot broke into my car (while I went to the ATM for 5, 10 minutes max) and stole some valuables.

I had to fork out some money for the damages.

Second Event

My trusted iBook laptop just died without warning. I only expected that kind of behavior from a Windows-based machine. And what do you know, the warranty expired 3 months back, and I didn’t get one of those extended warranty things.

I just thought by the time the iBook actually draws it’s last breath, it would be outdated anyway so why bother with the extended warranty. Boy was I wrong.

The worst part was that it dies without warning. No signs of software or hardware problems. It just refused to turn itself on one day.

Well the motherboard apparently cost almost as much as the laptop did, so I’ll just hand on till Leopard is release before getting a new Mac.

And no, Windows is still out of the question.

(The good news is that they managed to rescue the data. But how much of it they rescued I’ll only find out tomorrow.)

Third Event

Well actually I still have my Windows desktop PC. But two days after my iBook died, my monitor died too. Same thing – no symptoms, just decided it’s time was over. I suspect this is the work of a serial PC-killer.

So I had to buy myself a new monitor, but hey this one looks much cooler :)

And it created more space too in my home office.

So this may have been nothing more than a sign that I should upgrade my stuff :)

Fourth Event

Between working periods, I usually seek inspiration in music. This time however as I bent down to adjust my amp my guitar strap came off and my electric guitar fell on my right feet.

It saved the guitar from serious damage, but my right foot is swelled up a little. And it hurts.

Unfortunate, or Just a Minor Change for Better Things to Come?

I noticed that these changes happened after Chinese New Year, so I decided to consult the Feng Shui handbook by Lilian Too.

I’m an “Earth Sheep” by the way, although I spent a good 20 years assuming that since I was born in February 1980, I was a Monkey.

In the general section of the book, I found:

He is very creative when it comes to money. Extremely ambitious and a visionary as well, you’ll see him pursuing his dreams with gusto.

…The year 2007 will see the Male Sheep attain a greater level of success, blah blah blah..

Sounds good or maybe just a marketing tactic to make you feel better about buying the book :)

Ok, I finally found something…

The year gets off to a remarkable start. February is a month where very little can go wrong for you. Blah blah..

WTF? I knew it.

Something’s wrong with this Feng Shui book. I think I need to consult a real expert :)
