A Series of Unfortunate Events
Bad luck seems to be the order of the month. In fact I’ve had some of my worst luck for the last one week of February and the first week of March.
First Event
Some idiot broke into my car (while I went to the ATM for 5, 10 minutes max) and stole some valuables.
I had to fork out some money for the damages.
Second Event
My trusted iBook laptop just died without warning. I only expected that kind of behavior from a Windows-based machine. And what do you know, the warranty expired 3 months back, and I didn’t get one of those extended warranty things.
I just thought by the time the iBook actually draws it’s last breath, it would be outdated anyway so why bother with the extended warranty. Boy was I wrong.
The worst part was that it dies without warning. No signs of software or hardware problems. It just refused to turn itself on one day.
Well the motherboard apparently cost almost as much as the laptop did, so I’ll just hand on till Leopard is release before getting a new Mac.
And no, Windows is still out of the question.
(The good news is that they managed to rescue the data. But how much of it they rescued I’ll only find out tomorrow.)
Third Event
Well actually I still have my Windows desktop PC. But two days after my iBook died, my monitor died too. Same thing - no symptoms, just decided it’s time was over. I suspect this is the work of a serial PC-killer.
So I had to buy myself a new monitor, but hey this one looks much cooler 
And it created more space too in my home office.
So this may have been nothing more than a sign that I should upgrade my stuff
Fourth Event
Between working periods, I usually seek inspiration in music. This time however as I bent down to adjust my amp my guitar strap came off and my electric guitar fell on my right feet.
It saved the guitar from serious damage, but my right foot is swelled up a little. And it hurts.
Unfortunate, or Just a Minor Change for Better Things to Come?
I noticed that these changes happened after Chinese New Year, so I decided to consult the Feng Shui handbook by Lilian Too.
I’m an “Earth Sheep” by the way, although I spent a good 20 years assuming that since I was born in February 1980, I was a Monkey.
In the general section of the book, I found:
He is very creative when it comes to money. Extremely ambitious and a visionary as well, you’ll see him pursuing his dreams with gusto.
…The year 2007 will see the Male Sheep attain a greater level of success, blah blah blah..
Sounds good or maybe just a marketing tactic to make you feel better about buying the book
Ok, I finally found something…
The year gets off to a remarkable start. February is a month where very little can go wrong for you. Blah blah..
WTF? I knew it.
Something’s wrong with this Feng Shui book. I think I need to consult a real expert

Iam the first one to comment here, I might be erroneous but whatever generated within my childish intelligence, just marking to you.
Keep your “faith” strong, God is not far somewhere, dwells within you. Faith is not religion. Many times people say “We have our faith”. What they mean is this: “We have our religious ideas and doctrines, our traditions, our ways of doing things passed down through the generations”.
In the general sense of the word, to have faith is to believe in something or someone, to fully trust, to be so confident that you base your actions on what you believe. To have faith is to be fully convinced of the truthfulness and reliability of that in which you believe.
Computer gone, foot hurts, car problem and all related mishaps are general accidents, I must proclaim them as worldly negative actions. We all, including myself, when too much busy in making money, playing with computer, collecting gadgets, generating cash, listening music, always forget about our faith and external untouched spiritual elements of life.
When you are strong by inner-confidence, no one can damage your delicate existence. Let things go wrong, let cash drained, let wealth be stranger for while, your own faithful self is so near to you, and that self wont cheat you ever plus never be cause of disappointment or displeasure.
I used to believe organizing my office, updating my computer, having cash in bank, wearing nice clothes make life fruitful, but after so many calamities in daily life, myself became weaker and undernourished. I became artificial-sensitive person, instead of sturdy faithful individual. Term artificial-sensitive means that by having any loss/change regarding materialistic life, we are quickly affected in all manner of dim emotions, cerebral disorders and spiritual shock.
Don’t worry about whatever happened, those were just daily routine failures. In addition, if any person becomes reason of your loss like someone stole valuables from your car, he won’t be joyful in long term because his greed will be cause of his own psychological devastation. I bet he cant even sleep well like we all do. On other side, you have skills, abilities and positive energy to bring back those lost things many times in your life. Think about it.
No need to follow any numbers, signs, symbols, gossips, years, months, codes, man-made inadequate philosophies and rumours, just follow your own self and be strong. Just kill all fears and doubts of losing whatever you have now, believe me nothing will happen to you. This strong faith can’t be stolen by car-accident, crashing computer or any other forthcoming negative circumstance. Be serene, eat well, be proud and start loving your own self first, instead of saying people that “I do care about you”. You must be strong enough to cope with your own nerves before dealing any responsibility.
Faith is not a way to manipulate God. It is not a kind of magic through which we make God into our servant. Faith is not hope, nor positive desire. Hope is good, and relates to the future. Faith, however, takes the promise as done now. Many people have hope and are anxiously looking for results, but they lack the settled confidence and present assurance which faith has.
So, just say aloud and noticeably to your inner self, “Iam strong enough to compete with, whatsoever happened and no matter what will happen”. Your life will change on exact spot; you will be fresh individual to grip future-obscurities. All greatest people in history had simplest ray within their selves, even after facing countless dangers of life, yes it was tiny thought called “faith”.

Hi Gobala, sorry to hear about so many unfortunate events. My car got broke in too last last month, and last month I met with an accident. Not I bang people, but people bang me. ahh well… I go claim his insurance anyway.
But it sounds to me as though, your ibooks problem is the power supply. Not too sure.

I understand how you feel as I went through some unfortunate events recently too. Lost my PDA Phone(3k contacts), lost or misplaced an important documents file(birth cert and all)and some minor accidents. More bad luck than good.
What a coincidence that I too bought Lillian’s book too and we are of the same “Chinese horoscope animal”. I’m a Fire Sheep. I read it before CNY and thought to myself, looks like i’m going to have a lucky days in the month of Feb and boy was I wrong! As you said it, I think we need to get a second opinion on our “fung sui”.LOL!
Perhaps the knock on the foot was an inspiration in disguise?
On the bright side, your guitar wasn’t damaged.

I didn’t know you are a sheep. I thought you were a monkey.
But just to set the record straight, the predictions for sheep worked out well for me (I’m a sheep too since I’m a year older than you).
I heard that there will be major changes in our lives after the month of May. These 2 months are supposed to be ‘good’ months according to the zodiac. But it is generally a very prosperous year for sheeps.
I guess in the end of the day, if you think your luck is bad, no amount of karma, faith or self-talk will change your circumstances unless you BELIEVE that your luck is GOOD. Remember the law of attraction in THE SECRET? If you watch that movie, pay close attention to the guy who walks to his mailbox receiving a bunch of bills.

Dont worry, things will get better
My series of unfortunate events was in the month of December ‘06. You wont believe if i say i met with THREE accidents! But am still alive!
1. A Car overtook my bike and turned left without any signal, i put a sudden brake, fell down, my leg below my bike, and my bike below the car!
2. a week later, i had an appointment with the Regional Director of Govt Horticulture Dept, so i could not miss it. I went in the SAME bike after servicing, still my left leg was aching. I took a left turn (The same spot where i had the first accident) my bike skid due to the sand in the roadside. I fell down, again the same leg under my bike!!!
3. My dad came to Bangalore from Kerala to see whether i was all right. My scan report said that my knee cap was slightly damaged, and would need bed rest. My dad took me to my home town (Calicut, kerala) and i took rest in an ayurveda Hospital for about 2 weeks. I needed to go back to Bangalore urgently to complete my Mushroom research report, so i convinced my dad to permit to go back to Bangalore. That night, we took an Autorickshaw (Common Taxi in India) to the bus stop. The auto took a sharp turn, ran over a protruding foot path, fell upside down!!! Thank God, we escaped from Death! People nearby came for rescue, and my left shoulder got injured, and my dad’s right hand was injured a bit. My dad took me home, and he cancelled the ticket that night and booked a ticket after a week.
Woh!!! I survived 3 accidents, and am still alive! I never faced an accident before in my life, and it seemed like all the unfortunate events should happen before the year end!!!
Man, that one week of rest after the 3rd accident is the cause why i am writing this now. That one week was the time when i was searching in the internet on how i can make money online. I was amazed seeing the opportunity.
So i believe that “Whatever happens, happens for a cause which ultimately serves us”.
I accidently came across your comment in a blog search. Chinese have a very sophisticated system of astrology calles BaZi or “Four Pillars”… The four pillars are Year Pillar, Month Pillar, Day Pillar & Hour Pillar… in your case “Earth Sheep” or “Ji Wei” is your year pillar, similarly you will have month, day & year pillar… the interaction of these within themselves detemines your basic character… what is important is to see how your pillar of the current year (Fire Pig) interacts with the birth pillar in your horoscope…
These predictions given by Lillian Too are very broad and should not be taken seriously. Hope this helps. I am an advanced student of Chinese Metaphysics and hence can give you this advice.
