900 Backlinks With One Article

I started writing articles when I ran out of anything even resembling a “marketing budget”. I loathed writing my first article but I told myself that there’s no other way since I had no money for PPC or ezine ads.

That was almost 18 months ago, and I’d like to think I picked up a few good tips here and there since then. So let me share some insights with you…

My most recent article was published over 900 times according to Google [330 on MSN & 1170 on Yahoo] and ranks # 3 on Google for the keyword “time management plan”. All done in less than 10 days and with only 30 minutes of concentrated effort. If you’re really into all this SEO BS about getting one-way backlinks, this may sound like a dream. Not really, and let me explain why…

1) Some of these sites are either using some automated software or just to lazy to make the links active. Therefore, no backlinks.

2) By the time you’re reading this, Google would have probably dropped some of those sites carrying my article. There goes the backlink as well.

3) To me backlinks don’t mean s**t anymore unless they also bring traffic. 80% of those 900 backlinks never brought me a single visitor.

4) Yes this would probably get me a better PageRank in a few weeks or months (or years) but PR is just a decoy by Google to keep people busy.

So is it really good or bad?

It’s good, but lets not get carried away with the results :) Writing articles has since become my favourite way of getting exposure, more traffic and even more customers. Yet I’m still nowhere near my mentor and the road is long :)

I’m in a rush to work my 3X55 Superset, so hold on for a few days and I’ll let you know how to write articles for marketing and promotion. Meanwhile, if you’re looking for a good article submission service, I’ve been using SubmitYourArticle (kinda self-explanatory, isn’t it?). I know people like Willie Crawford, Ewen Chia and many others use this.

For me, writing articles does these following stuff

1) Will rank your website up for the keyword you’ve chosen if there’s the live keyword text link in your signature.

2) Makes your PR rank higher. PR indication ifself is of no use if it doesn’t bring in traffic. But PR ranking is commonly used to determine the website credibility when it comes to link exhanges. And once you got the appropriate text link for your link exchanges, the result will be the same as no 1 above.

3) Presell your audience. Once you got your article ready, you can either send them to your list or direct them to the article page on your website. From there you can either monetize the page with affiliate links and stuff.

4) Create brandable ebooks. If you’ve done to much of article writing, you can compile them into pdf and make them viral. To spice things up, you can compile your pdf with other people’s writings and make it a product

5) You can break apart your articles into small little ideas or topics which can be used for open ended forum postings. From there, you can preselll using your signatures or even link to your articles, and then monetize it again…

6) Opportunity to swap article with ezine owners, each with the affiliate links and send them to the list. not bad eh?

7) Make better use of your time rather than spending it watching football…hehe
