This specific page is continuosly updated with different articles, blog posts, websites so whatever you post will not be on the recently tagged page for that long.

I do like the service that OnlyWire provides as it enables you to submit your articles, blogs posts to 19 social bookmarking sites at once which will guarantee you 19 backlinks to you site. However, users are not obliged to post to all the social bookmarking engines.

OnlyWire also provides a facility to pick and choose the social bookmarking sites a user prefers to submit to. A user is only required to log on to whichever social bookmarking they wish to submit their entries to.

My only concern is that I hope it wouldn’t turn out as an opportunity for spammers to misuse the service OnlyWire provides. Onlywire does state on their website that any user misusing the service will have their account terminated and IP address blocked.

$10,000 and My Four Minute Mile

May 2007 – I finally hit my elusive goal of making $10,000 in a month from my Internet home business, which means two things:

I actually made it to $10,041, just forty-one dollars above my mark, but it’s still a moral victory. And the mark was hit not without it’s own share of controversies.

While I was away for 5 days in Singapore attending the World Internet Summit, some idiot hacker got access to my GoTryThis affiliate tracking software, and sneakily changed my affiliate links with his. What a jerk…!

This raised some trust issues at first. I try to tell you (the readers) as much as possible about my own Internet marketing journey, so that you can learn not only from my success but also my failures.

However, I failed to realize that this type of information also attracts the wrong kind of people – people who rather just steal from you instead of using their own brains to make something out of their lives.

I estimate that the hacker stole about $300 – $600 from me, and what seems like a solid plan to achieve my four-minute mile started to look like a lost cause. At the end of the month, however, I confirmed that I did it.

So a new chapter in my Internet marketing journey really has to do with security and privacy. I’ll tell you how I scrambled to solve my hacker problem in the next post.

Besides hackers, there’s also this group of inconsiderate people, mostly Malaysians, I dare say, who just don’t have phone manners. One guy called my on my mobile phone number at 10.45pm, and started shooting questions about how to withdraw money from Paypal.

What ever happened to “Is it a convenient time to talk?”. What ever happened to courtesy? In the end I had to tell him right to his face (in a nice manner) that he should only call me at regular business hours, or I wont entertain his call.

This is the reason why I removed my personal email address and contact numbers month ago. If I didn’t, I have to rely on people’s courtesy and most people just don’t have it.

Heck, I don’t even call my best friends at that time of the day without asking them if it’s a good time to talk.

WP Plugin – CSS Streamliner

CSS Streamliner is a wordpress plugin that optimize and compress your CSS file for improve performance. If you started to get worried on the number of css files that all the plugins you’re using have added to your site, than this plugin could come in handy.

Among the features that have being outline by the author:

  • Grabs all <link> tags from your pages in real-time and transforms them into one new one pointing to a highly optimized combined CSS file
  • Performs gzip on the optimized CSS file
  • Exclude mechanism to keep certain CSS out of the optimization process, for example print CSS files, alternate stylesheets or IE specific CSS within conditional comments
  • Caches different combinations of CSS on a per-page basis. Every combination will be cached and served once
  • Rewrites image URL’s in CSS to absolute ones in order to make CSS coming from different directories still work properly when served from one location
  • Automatically excludes CSS served from other hosts (no need to use the exclude mechanism for this)
  • Force-refresh option to refresh the cache in case of trouble

Learning Stage or Action Stage?

A lot of people complain that they have spent thousands on the Internet buying ebooks and systems, but never mad a single cent. But did they really TRY to make money?

My friend Sunny Tan did a great post on my forum for Malaysian Internet marketers, and my reply to the post was something like this:

Ask yourself, whether you are in the LEARNING stage, or in the ACTION stage. If you are in the learning stage, go and buy some ebooks, instead of reading bits and pieces from blogs and other people’s sites. It will help you a lot. Buy some software, try to create a new website, learn, learn learn. Try Ebay, try selling ebooks, try a few things, just to see which one you feel is the business model for you.

Not making much money? Nevermind – you’re in the learning stage. If you’re complaining about spending a few hundred ringgit, let me ask you how much you spent on your Degree or Diploma? Have you got back your investment on that? Or is because daddy or PTPTN paid for everything, that you think it was free? Education has never been free, and never will. Not only money, it will take you time to learn new things.

But the LEARNING stage must come to an end sometime. Of course as an Internet marketer you learn new things all the time, but by the time you come to the action stage you already know what business model you want to be in. Adsense sites? Selling Ebooks? Affiliat marketing? Etc etc.
Then just stick to it till you MAKE money. Trust me you will, if you really are in the action stage. By the time you get to the action stage you have already spent a lot of money, and now it’s time to get serious so you can make back your investment and much much more.

How to Write Articles Easily and Quickly

The best way to write high-quality articles is to steal them. Agreed?

It’s a poor artist who borrows – a good artist steals
- Picasso

“Steal” in this context is really to research and feed from other people’s content. Granted, once in a blue moon you may come up with something totally original, but mostly anything you want to say have already been said before.

Now if you copy from one person word for word, that is piracy. But you copy many people and paraphrase them, it’s called research. In fact that’s how most authors and credible publications write their books, journals and white papers. They simply research existing material, paraphrase and quote, and add their own content to make it new or more applicable to the subject matter.

Why re-invent the wheel?

Writing original article may be easy for subject matters in which your experience level is high, but can you write a good article on a topic you just discovered yesterday?

Yes, you can. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Research - Type in a few keywords in Google.com and see what results come up. Chances are, the search results will display a few shopping sites, some unrelated spam sites, and some really good sites.
    1. Collect about 10-20 URLs of the articles that you want to use, and write it down / save it into notepad.
    2. These existing content is probably of high caliber, and for you it’s simple “off the shelf” research that someone else did on your behalf.
  2. Paraphrase Sentences – Take one line from the first article that you like, and paraphrase it. This means that you change the actual words without changing the meaning of the sentence.
    1. The easiest way to do this is to change a sentence from active to passive.
    2. For example, if the original sentence is “The symptoms of heart disease are high blood pressure, stress and reduced vision”, they your sentence can be “High blood pressure, stress and reduced vision are the symptoms of heart disease..”
  3. Divide Content – Divide your content into logical paragraphs. If possible, talk about one idea / point in one paragraph, and try not to have more than 3 (three) content paragraphs. Dividing your content logically will establish a flow of ideas that keep the visitor reading for more.
  4. Quote The Source – It’s not wrong for you to tell your readers that you got a piece of that article from another person. It’s called “quoting” someone, and by doing this you can legally include a verbatim (exact) sentence from heir article or web page. There are different ways to do this for regulated works like journals and theses, but for the sake of writing a web page or blog post, you can just put the curly quotes (“) around the quoted text and link back to the original web page.
  5. Write an Introduction – How you write introductions really depend on the article itself. It it a serious, factual article? Is it meant to entertain or invoke thoughts on a certain topic? You introduction will decide whether someone will continue to read your article, or switch on their TV. Did the introduction of this article make you read till this point? I bet it did :)
  6. Write a Conclusion - Now, the traditional way of doing this is to do a “re-cap” of all the previous paragraphs, to make the entire article “whole”. But as a business owner, you’d probably want to use this opportunity to create an “incomplete conclusion” that will lead people to check out your website link at the bottom of your article, or click on your affiliate links anywhere else on your site. In other words, give them enough but not everything.

Now, I used to use the exact process above for years. My only complain is that it is very time consuming, and tedious. I found that I need to dedicate an entire day to find and sort articles. The writing part then becomes easier.

When I had more capital I started outsourcing some of the writing, but on some blogs (like this one) I still write the content. Even though I am knowledgeable on the topic of making money online, you just can’t write certain types of articles without doing your research first. The last thing you’d want is to get a universally known fact completely wrong in your writing, and look stupid.

instant article wizardOne of the tools I use now is Instant Article Wizard. This is a brilliant piece of software from Jonathan Leger that automates the entire article research process, and also helps you piece together a complete article from scratch.

It’s so easy that I can get an entire article done with just a few clicks.

You can click on the screenshot to get a better view of the interface.

You’ll notice a function on the top-left where you can enter your keyword, and search for relates articles.

For better results, enter your search terms like this:

  • heart disease is
  • heart disease is not
  • heart disease definition
  • says that heart disease

Then, Instant Article Wizard will display results of your search term, and the really cool part is that it also displays related search results. By clicking on each of those search terms, you can see the entire extracted sentence. You can mix and match, change words, and create your own sentences too.

Then, you can create your introduction and summary in Instant Article Wizard, and export your new article in text (.txt) format. Instant Article Wizard really helps me save time – loads of time – by automating my process for creating new articles. Plus, my articles are also more keyword-targeted so it stands a better chance to get good search engine rankings.

If you want to save time, I strongly recommend that you get your own copy of Instant Article Wizard. It will undoubtedly help you write better articles faster.

Membership Site Software Contest

Would you like to win a free membership site software, powered by Easy Member Pro worth $137? All you need to do is to tell me and Kim Standerline why we should give it to you.

easy member pro membership site scriptThis crazy idea came to me in a dream. Back in December 2006 I won a free copy of Easy Member Pro, but till date I have not used the membership site software. Although this is a lifetime license and I can use it whenever I want to, I decided to let another deserving person who can put it to good use take over my site license. After chatting with the creators of the software, Anthony Hull and Kim Standerline, I got the green light to do so.

Some of it’s key benefits of the Easy Member Pro membership site software:

  • Easy to use, WYSIWYG interface with built-in web page builder and editor
  • Supports both Paypal and 2CheckOut, use either one of both
  • Allows for “One Time Offers”, free members sign-up and different payment options (monthly, yearly etc)
  • Supports “monthly content”, members cannot download content for previous months – ideal for monthly payments sites
  • Built-in affiliate program, automatic affiliate signup and link generation
  • Generate full payment / affiliate reports
  • Web templates included

You can get full information at www.EasyMembersPro.com

Here’s what you need to do to win a free license:

  1. Write a comment below (200 min and 500 max) on why you deserve to win
  2. Mention your plans – how you want to utilize the membership site software to it’s fullest, what you want to sell
  3. Tell us why Easy Member Pro is suited for your plan of starting a new membership site
  4. Give us an exact date of when your new membership site can be up and running if you win – no estimates :)
  5. If you have a blog, link to this post (optional) and announce that you’re trying to win a free membership site software

I hate rules, but I know that if there aren’t any someone will find a loophole somewhere and hold us hostage of our own words.

So here are the rules:

  1. Each member can only create ONE submission, on this blog
  2. You cannot already own an Easy Member Pro membership site software
  3. If you want to comment on someone else’s entry, you must use the “Reply to Comments” function or your comment will be deleted to make space for actual submissions

To be fair, Kim Standerline from Easy Member Pro will select the winner, not me. Contest ends 15th June 2007, and the winner will be announced on this blog post itself.
