Making a WordPress Theme from scratch isn’t particularly easy. I know, I’ve tried. Particularly when you’re trying it for the first time, you may need a helping hand which is where Tomorrows-Laundry.com‘s Four Blank WordPress Themes will come in very, very handy.

The four themes are completely stripped down building blocks to help you begin developing your theme, saving you time, effort and a few chunks of hair that you may have pulled out otherwise. The four styles are all two column with a header and footer area, two fixed width with a right or left sidebar and two fluid width with a right or left sidebar.

Artificial Intelligence is a professional two column, widget friendly theme for both WordPress 2.0 and 2.1.

The top of each column is in two different shades of blue, with a section on the main column for the title and a section for an “about”, and the main navigation on the top of the second column and another possible “about” section. There is another space for navigation in tabs along the top of the theme.

Quicklime is a three columned (main content + two sidebars) theme with a lime green feel to it.

Quicklime has a number of useful settings for your blog:

* Referencing your Feedburner feed instead of WP’s built in feed function
* Integrated Digg, del.icio.us, reddit and Sphere bookmarklets in posts and pages
* Adsense (or similar ad programs) integration in posts and pages

Although Quicklime can function just fine without it, it’s recommended that you use this theme along with the Sidebar Widgets plugin for maximum customisation of your blog’s presentation.

The creatively (but oh so wrongly!) named theme, Girls Suck, has received a CSS makeover. The theme is now completely free of tables and full of lovely Web 2.0 CSS.

The colour scheme is mainly blue and orange, and the header is a simple and cute cartoon graphic. The sidebar is on the left hand side and is widget friendly.

The Hong Kong Theme is a bright, funky theme with a cityscape image and a neon sign style header for your blog title (.psd included).

The right hand sidebar is widget friendly and the blogs titles are surrounded in a bright, glowing background. The theme has a very retro urban feel and is very individual compared to every theme I’ve ever seen (and I’ve seen a few…).
