Plugin: Guestbook Generator

Remember when Guestbooks were the best way of getting feedback from your viewers? Even if you don’t, the WordPress Guestbook Generator will help you bring back those days of old, and quickly create a guestbook for your WordPress blog.

Simply think of it as a comment form for your entire blog, as opposed to one entry, with no files to edit; just upload the plugin, activate it then run the generator. A template which seamlessly integrates with your current WordPress theme, and will easily adapt when you change themes. The entires are arranged from newest to oldest.

One Penny: Light, Minimalist 2-column Theme

One penny is a 2 column, fixed width theme with widget support. It has a right sidebar and a light colour scheme, with a simple blog title header and easy to use, bold navigation. It has a crisp, clean feel to it, and is very easy to use and navigate.

It’s main advantages are a fast loading time, although the WordPress Widgets somewhat slow it down, and a simple, clean design which will appeal to most, if not all, of your readers.

VIP Hosting at WordPress.com

Just came across this new fature,VIP Hosting at WordPress.com, when I was reading ProBlogger.

It seems that WordPress.com (not the .org version) is offering it’s users the chance to host their blogs with WordPress. One thing that confuses me though; they charge $250 a month and $500 set-up fees – yet they require that you have at least 100,000 pageviews per month…

Am I missing something? Won’t it make more sense to have a cheaper package and terget new new users that may not have much experience blogging and using WordPress?

At 100,000 pageviews per month I’d probably know enough to get my own reseller hosting or VPS and host it myself.

Time to digg out more facts..

Theme for Blogs With Multiple Users

Subtle is a WordPress theme made for blogs with multiple authors, especially those who want easy and quick customisation for a site that does exactly what they want.

It’s features allow each author to have their own archives and information pages, plus customisation is easy with support for user-created styling through automated header creation, and photoshop files included in the download.

It also has full WordPress Widget support, built in Feedburner support and allows you to select which categories of posts you want to display on the front page, and whether you want to show the titles, the posts in full or any combination of the two. Installation and customisation is quick and easy, and the header image is easily edited and changed.

Wrapping Images in WordPress

One question I seem to get a lot in the forum is: “How do I wrap text around an images?”
You can wrap images around text in the image editor itself:

align-image.jpg

The way the image is aligned will depend a lot on the theme you’re using. If you’re not satisfied with that, than you need to have a look at the Codex to see how to change the settings: http://codex.wordpress.org/Wrapping_Text_Around_Images

Is Your GoDaddy Account at Risk?

(Thanks James)

What does the average Asian man / woman have to do to run an honest business on the Internet today without being bullied?

I thought I had heard enough about some big dumb US company’s total lack of understanding towards Muslim / Asian / Third World country (remember Paypal?), and today I get another shocking news..

I was just alerted of an ambiguous clause in the terms and conditions of GoDaddy.com, the world’s largest domain registrar. If you’re in Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam or even China, it seems that your account may be at risk of termination by them.

Here’s the article:

I took a screenshot of it just in case it’s modified later, to show what was originally stated: [Read more...]

Predict Your PageRank?

logo.gif

I might have come across this tool before, but I just rediscovered it and thought I’d blog about it:)

IWebTool has a cool feature that allows you to predict your PageRank for the next Google update. You can find it here.

According to the tools, this site will get a PR5 in the next update. I really don’t care about PR, but I know others do. So you might want to check it out.

They also have other web tools that are worth using.

Happy Birthday Steven Wong

Happy Birthday to Steven, who’s now 3X years old :)

I’ve known Steven since late 2004, and I’m glad to announce that we’ll be working together for the Easy WordPress project. Some of you may have communicate with Steven over the past few weeks in my support center, or at the forum.

He’s a really nice guy and he’s got eveything I don’t have: patience, consistency and calmness. With his help I’m able to drive my Alexa rankings above 20,000 and soon, I’ll get above and beyond the 10,000 mark.

Alexa

Our target is to develop a range of products / services / software related to blogs and WordPress. By end of this year, this site would be what’s often referred to as an “authority site”.

You can visit Steven’s blog at www.InternetOn9.com and wish him too if you want to.

The Easy Way To Get Links to Your Blog

If you already have your own blog or website, then you know that getting inbound links to your site will help you improve both your referral traffic and search engine traffic. So how do you get one-way links? The usual way:

  1. Write an article and submit to article directories
  2. Write content so good that others will start to link to you
  3. Just buy them

I never liked option number 3, since it involves something I didn’t want to part with: cash :)

But with Text Link Ads, buying links can be easy, and cheap. By using TLA, you can choose which sites you want to get a link from, based on the site’s Alexa ranking, PageRank, link placement and relevance. [Read more...]
