Google Analytics Is A Must For All Internet Marketers

logo_ga.gif

I got my Google Analytics account a few months back but never really looked at it or nothered to understand what it’s all about. After all, I already have AWStats to track visitors and search engine traffic, and Anaylytics didn’t seem much different.

In fact, at that time I though AWStats was better and easier to understand. I was wrong.
If you look at the main page of Google Analytics, you get four graphs:

google-analytics-2.png

(there’s one missing somehow, which shows you the Geographical location of your visitors)

The fours graphs are nothing to shout about. As far as traffic sources and incoming links, AWStats is way superior.

But the part that got me by the b**ls is a feature called “Site Overlay”. Here’s a screenshot of what Site Overlay does: [Read more...]

The Beginning Of A New Clickbank?

clickbank-logo.jpg

Came across the new Clickbank logo on their blog. Personally I think this logo looks MUCH better than their older one. Maybe it’s because I’ve seen too much of it? Hmmm..

It seems like Clickbank is taking a few critical steps to reinvent itself in the marketplace. Although they have the lion’s share of digital products sold on the Internet, every Clickbank user knows the severe limitations of their system.

The most annoying is that you cannot get decent statistics on clicks, clickthroughs, and sales. Each Clickbank account can be used for only ONE product. Then there are the other things like the fact that they don’t accept many Asian / Middle East countries. I outline many of the reasons in my book “Chapter-M – The Malaysian Solution to Clickbank and Paypal”.

It looks like Clickbank is finally taking some measures to get back on track. Meanwhile, if you want to sell on Clickbank, I stongly recommend Easy Click Mate.

I have been using Easy Click Mate as the Clickbank affiliate management tool for my WordPress Adsense System and I can say that without this tool, you will be shooting blannks in pitch darkness as a Clickbank affiliate or vendor.

Easy Click Mate lets you sell up to 50 products with one CB account, as well as having superior affiliate management and tracking tools.

Interview With Alang : Adsense And Online Publishing

AlangFor my first ever podcast (more to come soon) I had the opportunity of doing and interview with Alang.
For a long period of time, Malaysian content network publisher Samsul Zamzuri Abu Bakar (better known as Alang) remained below the radar, building a handful of useful content and community websites with great content powered by free word-of-mouth marketing.

Although Alang is well known within the Internet marketing circle, he maintained a low profile and preferred to work quietly behind the scenes. In this rare interview, Alang reveals some of his strategies on building content-driven community sites that generate 7000 visitors a day, the ups and downs of Google Adsense, as well as valuable insights into making money on the Internet by selling advertising space and directory
listings.

Here are some sites owned by Alang:

Adsense Class in Malaysia by Kidino, Shuth and Farid

That’s where I was last Saturday. Kidino, a fellow Internet marketing friend of mine, spearheaded a seminar on Adsense, called “Kelas Adsense”. Organized by Farid Sulaiman, it was a one-day intensive class on Adsense. My job there as a guest speaker was to give insights on using WordPress to build Adsense niche sites. It’s a summary of things to come with my WordPress Adsense System.

Here are some pictures from Kelas Adsense:

5 Secrets To Responsive Blog Traffic

Email marketing is getting tougher by the day. With ISPs coming up with their own definition of what’s SPAM and what’s not, you may find that your email are not getting delivered to as many people as it should be. This is the reality of 2006. As an alternative, most marketers nowadays perfer to use blogs as their marketing forefront. There’s no issues with this, except one nagging question:

How do I get more visitors to my blog?

And that’s followed by this question:

How do I get visitors to leave comments on my blog?

These are NOT the answer:

  1. Provide great content: So what if you provide good tips? There are equally great content (if not better) elsewhere.
  2. Design a beautiful blog: Beauty is only skin deep. After the initial ‘wow factor’, what’s left?
  3. Use SEO: Ok, this will work for traffic, but not for loyalty or responsiveness. So SEO is not the ultimate answer.
  4. Talk about Google: If you really have nothing better to say, then by all means talk about Google. But there’s tons of other bloggers talking about Google :)

Here the countdown to the “Top 5 Secrets To Increase Returning Blog Traffic“, ranked from my personal experience on blogging, that will make your blog traffic grow and your readers more responsive to your marketing messages:

Made For Adsense (MFA) Judgement Day

If your website is Made For Adsense (MFA), then it seems like you’ll have things to worry about very soon. Countless bloggers have warned about the inevitable “judgement day” for MFA sites, the latest one I’ve read is from Gaman.

My advice is to stop building websites with useless content (scraped content) unless you’re willing to run faster and think smarter than Big Daddy Google. You should start building solid niche websites as mentioned in the Adsense SEO Guide by Kidino.

Here’s the full article on Made for Adsense [thanks Al Wee]. [Read more...]

Did Google Steal The “Adsense” Brand?

I don’t remember why exactly I did it, but I’m suprised I didn’t do it before.

Today I typed in www.Adsense.com and expected it to redirect to Google Adsense. Instead I got a webpage by Adsense Consulting with this rather pissed-off statement on their website:

If you think you can get rich quick placing other people’s ads on your site or blog, please contact Google who has taken and used our business name without permission or compensation

Adsense Consulting - The Real Adsense?

They then explained that their website has moved to another URL, probably becasue they were getting too many enquiries from people who wanted to sign-up for the “fake” Adsense :)

Interesting to say the least…

Malaysians Are Rude, ‘Ruder’ and ‘Rudest’

This made it into my Malaysia Boleh category, a showcase of uniquely Malaysian traits and unspoken realities.

Malaysia is ranked third least courteous country in the world, according to Reader’s Digest. Yes… I know I’m not the first to report this (thanks for the info Sheila) but I’m a “reporter” type of blogger anyways. I’m more towards voicing my opinions on issues I feel strongly about :)

Reader's Digest Courtesy Scores

Malaysians are rude. I wonder why it took people so long to realize that but the truth is now out. Of course we can’t beat Mumbai, the rudest country in the world. I know – I worked for a year with people from that region when I was an exec in Telekom Malaysia. Those guys deserve the undisputed number one spot. [Read more...]

Google Checkout and Google Adwords Tag Team Action

Google Checkout Logo

Google Checkout is now available. It sounds much better than “Google Gbuy” as the media called it recently.

https://checkout.google.com/

According to Google, their new service called Google Checkout serves these purposes:

  1. Stop creating multiple accounts and passwords. With Google Checkoutâ„¢ you can quickly and easily buy from stores across the web and track all your orders and shipping in one place.
  2. Shop with confidence. Our fraud protection policy covers you against unauthorized purchases made through Google Checkout, and we don’t share your purchase history or full credit card number with sellers.
  3. Control commercial spam. You can keep your email address confidential, and easily turn off unwanted emails from stores where you use Google Checkout.

The first thing I found out when I signed-in to may account: Google Checkout is for US residents only.

What a shame. In fact, your address must be in the United States if you’re buying online. No other shipping addresses accepted. [Read more...]
