3D Ebook Covers Now?

I can’t believe what these guys from Malaysia have done in a little less than 3 months since I first got to know about the service they offered.

I believe it’s the first “3D Ebook Cover” concept I have seen to date:

Yup, why have a boring e-cover when you can have a killer attention-grabber that spins around at the click of a button?

How Do You Deal With Idiot Customers?

I’m writing this post feeling more than just annoyed.

I’m furious.

There comes a time in your business when you are put through the challenge of dealing with the most obnoxious idiots around. These people can’t be reasoned with. There aren’t many around (thank god) but they are out there, somewhere.

Listen to the audio for the full story.

The valuable lesson: Don’t bother with idiots. Get rid of them as quickly as you can, and then avoid them at all costs.

Fat Trimming Tip for Google Adwords

[tags]Google Adwords, adwords, google, payperclick, internet marketing asia[/tags]

Cheryl mentioned something she calls “Fat Trimming” for Adwords. This is a useful strategy to basically increase your profits even though you may end up compromising some sales.

I guess at the end of the day, Adwords is about making profits, not sales. That’s why understanding conversion rates and cost per click is extremely important.

Before you even start promoting a product using Adwords here’s what you can do.

  1. First, what’s the profit margin or commissions you get from each sale? Lets say you get $10 per sale.
  2. Get the industry standard conversion rate, which is 1.0% if you’re selling Clickbank stuff. If you’re selling physical products without a proper sales page the figure is much lower.
  3. Multiply the selling price / commissions with your conversion rate to get the maximum Cost Per Click

Here’s the calculation:

$10.00 X 0.01 = $0.10

This means that in order to make a profit, your cost per click for each keyword must be below $0.10.

You can see immediately that if you cannot get clicks like that, this will probably be an unprofitable Adwords campaign. The only way to make money from this example is if the actual conversion rate is much higher, or you manage to optimize your ads to reduce your cost-per-click.
That’s why it’s important to promote products with a higher profit margin / commissions. You should also ask the owner for advice on what his conversion rate is.

Gobala Krishnan Wins Certified Starbucks Junkie Award

What kind of crazy idiot spends more than RM200 a month at Starbucks?

Erm… someone like me :)

Since Starbucks still charges me the regular rates and refuse to give me any kind of acknowledgement, I am going to give my self an award..

- Drum Rolls -

Gobala Krishnan is now a Certified Starbucks Junkie, beating a few tough challengers to claim the most coveted title in the Internet marketing world. Here’s the proof – RM789 spent in Starbucks outlets in Kuala Lumpur, for the past 3 – 4 months, taken from my accounting software.

Certified Starbucks Junkie

I’m a Starbucks Junkie and proud of it. Now I’ll try to get Starbucks to sponsor my blog.

If you think you can beat me, I’d like to hear about it. Give me your best shot :)

Alternate URL in Your Adsense Code

[tags]adsense, google adsense, alternate url, advertising, ppc, psa, internet marketing asia, gobala krishnan[/tags]
If you’re an Adsense publisher, you’d know that if Google cannot find relevant ads to display on your website, you’ll see a “Public Service Ad” or PSA for which you don’t get paid.

Google allows you to specify an “alternate URL” instead of allowing PSA ads to appear on your website or blog. To my knowledge, 99% of Adsense publishers don’t have an alternate URL so they just let PSAs run without getting paid for clicks they generate.

Here’s where you can get your own “alternate URL”:

Amazon Stepping Up On Email Marketing?

I cant remember the last time I got a personalized email from Amazon.com like the one below. Are they stepping up their email marketing efforts, or have all their emails been going to my junk folder?

Hmmm…

Google Gbuy Payment System Launching Soon

If you’re looking for an alternative to Paypal, your prayers may be answered soon. Big Daddy Google has decided to launch itself into fierce territorry controlled by Paypal (owned by Ebay) with it’s new “Gbuy” payment system, expected to launch very soon.

Gbuy is expected to be free during the initial phase, but merchants may eventually be charged a 1.5 percent to 2 percent per-transaction fee…

From what I understand, if you’re advertising using Adwords, you will be allowed to put a “Gbuy” logo on your ad if you’re using it to collect payment.

Who knows.. this could be a great thing. It’s good that Paypal will finally have a big dog chasing it’s lame and slow ass…

Web Templates Still A Good Source of Income

[tags]internet marketing asia, affiliate program, affiliates, templates, web templates, themes, templatemonster [/tags]

Although website templates are nothing new, the potential to make money selling templates is still high, making it one of the most profitable affiliate programs around.

Here’s why:

  1. One average a website goes through 2 – 5 layout and design changes
  2. Hiring web designers can be a painful and expensive process

One of the best affiliate programs is the one by TemplateMonster.com

Web Templates affiliate program

Their affiliate program pays out 25% on every template sold with your affiliate link. You can either choose to get full 25% commission, or give part of it to your prospects.

I prefer to give people a 10% discount, and keep the other 15% commissions for myself. At least this gives me an advantage. They also pay commissions on TemplateTuning.com where you can have your templates customized by professionals.

The best part of the affiliate program is that it’s FULLY CUSTMOZIABLE. You can change almost eveything you want, from the displayed price, the type of templates that will be shown, the toll-free contact numbers and even the method of payment.

If you want, you can also use affiliate feeds to display web templates directly on your website or blog. Even if your business is not focused on web marketing, you can be sure that most of your customers have at least one website of their own. Offer them a discount on templates and they will be glad to buy from you. I don’t care how much discounts you give – give 25% if you want. Then, direct them to TemplateTuning.com for customzation and keep all the commissions :)

Interview With Akmal Ariff from Malaysia

A few months back, there was so much buzz about a “new guy” who came up with a marketing system that produced real results. It wasn’t that difficult to find out more as his affiliates were all over the place, marketing his Tsunami Wang system.

Translated to English, Tsunami Wang means “Tsunami of Cash” and I suspect that’s exactly the feeling Akmal Ariff and his affiliates felt at that time. I managed to squeeze in an interview with the man himself to find out more about his background, philosophies, marketing tactics and his master plan for the future.

According to Akmal Ariff, “My affiliate software made me ahead of anyone else. I also have a good programmer on my side.”

I asked Akmal on his opinions about working from home and the freedom it brings, to which he replied “No doubt working for yourself gives you the freedom all of us want. But you must really live it to really understand how it is like. If you do not have your own self-discipline and financial maturity, your
entire life will collapse no matter how much you’ve earned already. That’s
why most people say you must be matured enough to enjoy a sustainable
financial freedom.”

Akmal has already set a strong foot in the Malaysian Internet marketing arena, and his name is literally everywhere. Good luck to you Akmal and on your future plans.

Hopefully we’ll get to work together someday :)
