AdSense Is Hottest Topic According to Research

Just finished my simple "sharing" session in MMU a few hours ago where I mentioned that the most important lesson I learned recently was to research your market

Then I remembered that I started a survey a few weeks back, and I took a look at it. Here's what my research revealed:
Adsense research

Top 5 Information That Sells

Please note that this research is a result of surveying my own list, and might not be what YOUR subscribers are looking for. If you want to get it right from step one you should try Ask Database.
1) How to Create Your Own Website And Make Money With AdSense

No suprise here. I know a LOT of people are jumping in the AdSense bandwagon, just had to make sure that my email list felt the same way.

2) How to Make Money Doing Freelance Work For Others

This was a major suprise. Freelance work includes being a freelance designer, freelance editing and proofreading, freelance programmer etc. Initially I only put "How to make money freelance" and I suspect a lot of them interpreted "freelance" as part-time. A lot of people want to do it part time.

I later changed the sentence to reflect what I really meant to say, so I'm putting this result on a temporary joint-position with the next best results…

3) How to Make Money With Email Marketing

Again, no major suprise. A lot of people want to learn how to build a massive list and market to them.

4) How to Make Money in Affiliate Marketing

At one point of time this used to be the number 1 "sellable" information. Now it's relagated to number four. I guess AdSense just has a better appeal.

5) Search Engine Optimization Strategies

Again, this used to rank higher. I guess it just got it's ass kicked by AdSense, although part of making money through AdSense involved some form of SEO. This barely beat "How to Make Money From Paid-To Program" by a little, according to my latest data.

Well the bigesst suprise if that the majority didn't care about creating their own e-books. Has it lost it's appeal, due to saturation, or is it just that my market doesn't want to do it?

Anyone care to share their research results? Anyone using Ask Database with similar results or better tips on market research? [tags]adsense, SEO, marketing research, online marketing[/tags]

Do I Regret Quitting My Job?

I’m supposed to be a guest speaker in MMU (Multimedia University) tomorrow, and I’m thinking of what to say. Somehow I can foresee someone asking this question: “Do I regret leaving my job to be an entrepreneur?”

I always get this question from my friends who really can’t understand what I do for a living nowadays, and why I would leave a job that paid RM2,900 plus all the “perks” for an “uncertain future”.

Do I regret leaving my job?

Public Wireless Broadband – Malaysia Vs. Singapore

I’m back to Kuala Lumpur, and it feels great!

Surviving one week without proper Internet access was a nightmare, but I did it. The problem started when I got back to my parents house in Kluang and realized that the good guys at Streamyx screwed up my broadband connection. Since Tuesday was a public holiday in Malaysia, I had to wait till Saturday (today) to get it up and running again.

I guess that’s quite good for TMNet’s impeccable standards…

But here’s the funny thing: I had a much more difficult time finding free public broadband in Singapore. Ok, forget about Kluang. It’s a small town with no Starbucks or Coffee Bean, therefore no free broadband.

But here I am at the intersection of Robinson Road and Maxwell Road, where there’s Subway, Starbucks, Coffee Bean, Secret Recipe, and Gloria Jeans.

Robinson Road

Ok, I went to Subway first for lunch. I asked if they had wireless Internet. The answer was “No”. I wasn’t expecting much from Subway anyway.

Then I went to Starbucks, the most likely place to leech on some free broadband. Guess what? They only have Starhub Wireless, for paid customers only.

Next I hit Coffee Bean, and guess what? SingNet paid customers only. Same thing everywhere else, and I gave up.In the end I had to wait to get back to JB, and when I did I totally immersed myself in the FREE broadband at Starbucks….

This is perhaps one reason why I like Malaysia more than Singapore: some things are still free over here :)

Just go to any Starbucks (and there are TONS of them in Kuala Lumpur) and you get free broadband. I even get free broadband in some public places in PJ :)

Final Score: Singapore 0 Malaysia 5

Now if only our Malaysian soccer team can get those results…:)

Stuck Without Internet in Kluang

Sorry for the lack of posts. I’m curently stuck in my homeown, Kluang wihout Internet access. I’m having poblems with the connecion at home, and I can’t find any hotspot areas o do my work.

Right now I’m at a lame excuse for an Internet cafe, where the point on my keyboard has faded away ages ago. If his pos sounds gamatically incorrect, i’s because it’s nea darn impossible to hit the “T” and “R” buttons, if I can find where they are to begin with…:)

I’m like fish out of water…

25 – 35 Subscribers a Day

What a hectic, rollercoaster week it’s been!!

Just completed a copywriting project for a client, and already I’m rushing off to create a promotion strategy for the upcoming Asian Internet Marketing Bootcamp.

The downpoint of the week is of course, getting my PayPal account closed by the jerks. I wonder why they call themselves that – they’re certainly not my “Pal”…

Paypal Sucks

Paypal sucks…
The upside is that I’m now getting 25 – 35 subscribers per day. Now I’m not a math genius, but if this streak continues:

* In one month: 30 X 30 = 900 Subscribers
* In one year: 900 X 12 = 10,800 Subscribers

Add to that the compounding effect, I’m expecting to see a subscribers list of over 20,000 by April 2007. That’s not taking into account any new projects I’m working on…

At least that puts a smile on my face. Damn you Paypal jerks…

NMP Doors Closing

Just got an email from Jason Gazaway. He’s shutting the doors for Niche Products Monthly so you’d better get in now. Jason’s not kidding, I’ve missed out before and this time I barely got in.

Click here for review of Niche Products Monthly

He’s got 100 seats open and I think it should all be gone by now, but you can still try.

Google’s Related Links

I just read this, and it’s quite interesting. If your website gets more that 10,000 hits a day, Google wants to to participate in their “Related Links” project:

http://www.google.com/relatedlinks/index.html

Its basically a set of codes you can put on your site to display related content. Unlike AdSense, however this doesn’t pay you, yet. Here’s some snippets from their F.A.Q that matter =>

How does this product help webmasters?
Related Links uses the power of Google to automatically bring fresh, dynamic and interesting content links to any website. They provide a fast and automated way to display related searches, pages, and news on their sites.

Can I get paid to place Related Links on my site?
Not at this time. We hope that with this product, you can make your site even more useful to your visitors by providing them with links to information they are interested in.

Are Related Links available to just AdSense publishers?
No, we believe that this product is useful for anyone who has a website. You do not have to be an AdSense publisher to use Related Links.

Although it’s clear that this is still in Google Labs, you could probably use Related Links to publish…. ermm related links on your site. Sort of like RSS, and could bring more unique daily content to your AdSense-based site.

I haven’t tried it out yet, but I’m curious for results and comments from those who have…

Clickbank Against Fraud or…

Was reading a post by Liew CF today on the never ending issue of Clickbank not accepting Malaysian registrants. Yes, you can’t buy CB products or sell on CB is you’re using a Malaysian address. In fact, Malaysia will not appear in the countries list at all. CB always states that they do not accept countries with a high fraud rate, which includes Malaysia.

That’s the part we already know. The interesting twist is comments made that CB doesn’t like to accept Muslim countries. In a way it makes sense, as you’ll never find most Muslim countries in their registration list.

Well, I’m not a political activist and this isn’t a political blog, so that’s all I’ll say. It does make you think, though…
