Why Financial Freedom Isn’t Possible For Some

by Gobala Krishnan on June 4, 2009

I got this email from a blog reader:

Hi Gobala,

I am trying to understand more on making money online as currently I am unemployed. I have tried to course around for opportunity and found your site. I know most of your information is in your books but currently I am really really budget tight and desperately looking for cheaper method to earn some money. Can you please help me in this? I want to be financially free just like you. Can you provide me with advice to do it?

Thank you so very much.

Dxxxxx

And my carefully crafted reply:

Hi Dxxxxx,

Yes I recommend the book, you can get it at MPH at just RM39. It’s an extremely low investment to achieve financial freedom. I haven’t come across any cheaper way.

You can’t achieve financial freedom if everything you know till now has led you away from it. A J.O.B mentality of spending nothing and getting paid doesn’t apply in the pursuit of financial freedom. RM39 is too “expensive” for some, yet I’m sure they spend twice the amount on entertainment every week.

You can’t achieve financial freedom if you don’t make sacrifices. I lived without TV for 3 years, spent thousands on books and learning materials over the years.

You especially can’t achieve financial freedom is you’re no willing in your most powerful asset, knowledge.

What got you here, won’t get you there.

Jaya Supermarket Collapse

by Gobala Krishnan on May 31, 2009

Jaya Supermarket Ruins

I’m sure most Malaysians would have read the news about the collapse of Jaya Supermarket, one of the most iconic stores in Petaling Jaya and perhaps even Selangor. Reports vary, but one thing for sure more than 3 people died when the building, currently undergoing demolition and deconstruction, collapsed last Thursday.

My office is right next to Jaya Supermarket, but yes I’m ok and no one besides the contractors in the building were harmed. I was actually celebrating my wedding anniversary, having dinner in StarHill. Then we heard about the news and rushed back to my office about 8.00pm.

For the past two weeks or so, the noise from the demolition works is all we could hear in the office. Now, everything is quiet and most of the main roads are blocked.

I remember Jaya Supermarket closed down last year around March, the same time I moved into my office in PJ. For over a year the building was abandoned, then suddenly (perhaps due to a deadline) they started demolishing it.

I’m not sure what would replace Jaya Supermarket, perhaps another shopping center. But now the ghost of Jaya will forever be in the heart of Malaysians.

Aweber Coupon - Watch The Video

Aweber is perhaps one of the most important marketing tools you can have.

It allows you to build a huge list, and communicate with that list like no other software I’ve come across. There’s just one problem - How do you know if it’s right for YOU?

In this video I show you how to get Aweber at just $1.00 for the first month.

Once the video has finished playing you’ll be taken to the Aweber site where you can get your own $1 trial using the Aweber coupon code. During your trial month you can access all the features and then decide if you want to keep it or not. I’m sure you’ll be impressed by how easy it is to use.

On a side note.. If you want to get private label rights to videos like this, plus much more, create your membership account at PLR WordPress Videos. All members will get the complete Aweber / email marketing videos by end of this month, and they can use it to create their own high value products :)

ClickBank Encoded Hoplinks Prevent Affiliate Theft

by Gobala Krishnan on May 24, 2009

clickbank hoplink

ClickBank has been making tons of changes recently, including a new design which seems more “modern” than their old look. However some of the important changes were more than just cosmetic.

For example, as I was trying to get an affiliate link for Simply PLR today, I expected to see the usual hoplink format which is your affiliate ID followed by the publisher id and the rest of clickbank.net URL.

What I found however is the new encoded hoplink format, which solves the age old problem of affiliate commission theft from ClickBank products. There has been tons of third-part applications for encoding or masking affiliate links, but it’s good to see that ClickBank has FINALLY made it part of the default features.

Of course affiliate theft can still happen, but it’s much more difficult now.

keyword-country

If you want to make money from AdSense, then you can either do what the newbies do, or follow in the footsteps of hardcore AdSense marketers.

Here’s what a newbie would do:

  • Find a topic that he / she cares about
  • Do some basic keyword research
  • Built a site / WordPress blog
  • Write related content and get link
  • Wait for AdSense money to come flowing in

Here’s the problem with that model: what if you targeted a low-paying AdSense niche market? Wouldn’t you have wasted all those months of hard work?

The people who make a lot of money from AdSense want to know one very important thing before they even build a single web page: how much does the niche pay?

The problem is, Google never reveals exactly how much money they or you make per click. Although there have been many ways in the past to “guess” high-paying AdSense keyword, I recently subscribed to a service called Keyword Country which makes it so much easier.

Keyword Country is a keyword research tool, similar to Keyword Elite.

However, it gets straight to the point by giving you exactly the information you want. Plus, it’s also much easier to use and has a lot of additional plugins you can add on if you’re really crazy about keyword research.

I also realized, Keyword Country gives you way more results when you type in a non-English keyword. Plus, you can also search for keywords by country. So for example if I wanted to see what are the keywords people from Malaysia are typing in related to “blogging” I can do that easily.

Keyword Country will cost you a bit, but if you’re seriously thinking about building lots of profitable niche sites you should go out and at least give it a try.

Book Launch at KL International Book Fair

by Gobala Krishnan on April 29, 2009

IMG_1921 I was so busy getting PLR WordPress Videos ready for the launch day, that I almost forgot to blog about my book launch at KL International Book Fair last weekend.

Well actually it was a book launch for all new True Wealth titles, and I was actually quite surprise to find a lot of new authors published their book in the past six months or so.

Yeah I know I’m just wearing my jeans, but that’s the “look” you need to have if you’re an Internet marketer :)

The book fair also had foreign publishers and you could get almost any book you want for a discount. Most of the really crowded booths however, were selling text books for primary / secondary kids.

The first picture is some of the other authors signed to True Wealth publishing. On my left is K.C. Lau who published “Top Money Tips for Malaysians”. The director of MPH Malaysia, that’s his signature on the book cover.

PLR WordPress and Blogging Videos

by Gobala Krishnan on April 28, 2009

plr-wordpress-videos

In case many of you have been wondering “What happened to Gobala Krishnan?”, fear not. I’m a live and kicking. Whenever I skip updating my blog with new posts, it usually means I’m working on a new project.

This time around, I’ve created my PLR WordPress Videos membership site where you can get tons of high-quality WordPress / blogging videos with Private Label Rights or PLR. This is great new if you plan to create your own blogging products, run a membership site, or conduct seminars & personal coaching on blogging.

Unlike many membership sites I’ve attempted in the past, I want to keep this simple and make sure I can fulfill my own promises of delivering useful new videos every month related to WordPress, blogging, social media and related stuff.

Membership is pretty flexible, and you pay for what type of source files you want. There are pros and cons of each membership level, which I will explain here:

  • Silver Member (Beginners) – Basically you get only the Flash files, and you customers can watch the videos online. The good news is that this membership is the cheapest, and most suitable for tons of new Internet marketers. It’s also great as supporting tutorials for your other products. However, you will not be able to cut, edit and mix the videos themselves.
  • Gold Member (Intermediate) – This is the membership that gives you the most value for money. You get videos in Flash, AVI and other formats. If you are an intermediate level marketer, you would definitely want to offer you customers more download options as not all of them want to watch online videos. It also give you more flexibility as you can package the videos into physical DVDs if you want and sell them that way. Plus, you can also upload them to video hosting websites (provided they require a password) and distribute it that way. You can use them “out of the box” or you can edit the videos themselves, including adding watermarks, logos and much more.
  • Platinum Members (Advanced) – The ultimate level of video marketing you could want, as you get the source Camtasia Studio files. With the source files you can pretty much do ANYTHING – translate the videos into a different language by adding your own voice over, add subtitles, merge or split videos, add background music, etc. Then, you can also produce these videos into any size, quality and file format you want.

There’s a lot of money in WordPress, and most of revolves around “How to” questions. Not everyone who wants to use WordPress is ready to browse through forums and blogs to find out how to get started, or to do more advanced stuff. That’s where step-by-step “screen cam” video tutorials provide tremendous value.

Plus, you’ll get an edge over other marketers since:

  1. I create all the videos myself, from my 4 years experience with WordPress. Not rehashed materials or reused PLR here.
  2. All the videos you get were actually used by me in some of my best-selling products like WordPress AdSense System and Super Affiliate Blogger. That means I didn’t create them for the sole purpose of selling them to you – which is what most PLR sellers really do! They can’t make any money themselves with the PLR crap they are peddling.
  3. All videos are updated constantly to catch up with all the changes and new versions introduced by WordPress. Other marketers would probably be selling outdated videos showing WordPress version 2.3.
  4. You can request your own videos, and I will add them based on popular demand, This is my way of making sure I give you exactly what you need, and not what I think you need.
  5. Membership is limited, which means that only a small group of people can have access to the videos. Currently the site is in BETA and I’m accepting about 90-100 members only. When memberships are sold out, you can only get in if there are dropouts or if I reopen new slots.

So go ahead and get your PLR WordPress Videos membership today, and you’ll see why I managed to make a full-time living since 2005 just teaching others how to use and master this unique blogging platform.

Submit Your Blogs And Websites For Just $1

by Gobala Krishnan on April 24, 2009

web-directory

At our new Profit Web Directory, you can submit your websites and blogs starting at just $1.00 each for a basic listing, with up to 3 deep links at an additional $1 per link. I’m offering links at such a low price because I want to populate the directory with a sizeable amount of inventory before increasing the price permanently.

If you want to be among the top 10 on the homepage or category pages however, you’ll need to enter a higher bid. Being in the top 10 will definitely get you better link juice and traffic, but even the basic $1 link is good enough for most cases.

My Twitter Account Got Suspended

by Gobala Krishnan on April 2, 2009

As I mentioned before, I use Twitter mainly as another channel to inform people about my blog posts and my emails. This means I rarely actually log into Twitter for the sake of twittering but instead “syndicate” stuff to Twitter. I guess the days of that is quickly coming to and end, as my Twitter account got suspended and I believe a lot more accounts too.

image

According to Twitter:

Commercial or promotional use of Twitter is allowed. There are many companies who create valuable, opt-in relationships with users on Twitter who want to keep up to date with them. However, if you are following other accounts in order to gain attention to your account or links therein, you may be considered spam. If you are creating a series of accounts in order to promote the same thing, you may be considered spam. If you are sending large numbers of @reply messages that are not genuine replies, you may be considered spam. If you are creating updates in order to show up in search results, you may be considered spam. If you are disguising links (i.e., writing about one thing but linking to another), you may be considered spam. If a large number of users have blocked you (relative to those following you), you may be considered spam.

Well to be honest I’m not an aggressive user and I did not do any Twitter campaigns or promotions that produce “large numbers of @reply messages that are not genuine replies”. But it’s true that all my Twitter posts link back to my blog or website and not just a “what I am doing now” type of message. If that’s what they consider as SPAM then I believe a lot more people would be in the same boat as me.

Anyways I will try to get my Twitter account back up, but if I can’t then no big deal. I would not be Twittering according to their ideal usage any time soon :)

Freelance Writing Guide and Tips

by Gobala Krishnan on March 31, 2009

As some of you may know, I started off my online marketing career as a freelance writer. Although that was more than 3 years ago, my freelance writing gigs helped me quit my full time job and launch my Internet marketing business as well. I highly recommend everyone who can write, or want to write, to get a few writing gigs as a legitimate and sustainable way to improve your cash flow.

When it comes to freelance writing, you can basically do a few “jobs”:

  1. Become a ghostwriter for other people’s books and ebooks
  2. Write articles and web content for website / blog owners
  3. Become a regular columnist for offline / online media in various topics
  4. Become a paid blogger using paid blogging services like PayPerPost
  5. Become an editor / proofreader and help brush up someone else’s work
  6. Become a web copywriter and charge for every web copy written

Being an editor requires more of a critical eye and amazing grasp of grammar and writing styles. This is a skill not everyone, even world-class writers, possess. Copywriting is another highly paid skill that requires creative thinking and therefore it not really in the reach of most people. Every other type of writing however, is a great opportunity for anyone who can construct a proper sentence in English.

So lets talk about those other types – ghostwriting, paid blogging and content writing.

Ghost writing can potentially add between a few hundred to a few thousand dollars into your bank account every month, but the flip side to this is that no one will ever know who you are or appreciate the work you’ve done. In the Internet marketing world, lot of information marketers are constantly looking for someone who can help them write ebooks, instruction manuals and other types of documentation.

Writing articles and web content for blogs / websites is another great opportunity, plus in most cases you also get a “byline” for your work. If you’re writing for blogs, you have your author credits on each blog post. This helps other people know who you are, and get addicted to your style of writing, ideas, and personality. For the sake of your freelance writing career, writing on blogs is actually much better than ghostwriting.

The final type of freelance writing you can do is paid blogging or sponsored blogging. I’ve covered this in detail in my Blog Paycheck guide, but the basic idea is you set-up your own blogs and start accepting writing offers in networks like Pay Per Post, Review Me or Sponsored Reviews. Advertisers want to get the word out about their products, and they are willing to pay bloggers to write about them on their blogs. How much you can demand per article written depends a lot on the popularity and traffic of your blogs.

The plus side to this is that technically you own the content you have written, which means you can always monetize your growing blog with Google Adsense or even affiliate offers.

What Do You Need To Become a Freelance Writer?

Very quickly, this is what you need:

  1. Passion for writing and good grammar – If you want to write for a living, you must have a passion for it. Nothing puts me off more than a writer who writes purely for money.
  2. A good porfolio site that sells you – You’ll find that clients always want to take a look at your previous work before they decide to engage you. If you’re just starting off you can admit that you’re new and you’ll still be able to land jobs if you can give your potential employer a few good samples. However in the long run it’s your portfolio that gets you the high-paying writing gigs.
  3. Growing list of contacts – If you only have three potential clients, your potential income is severely limited. Not everyone needs a constant supply of writers so build up your contact list to the point that you can pick and choose which offers you want to take up.
  4. A greater plan for your life – Freelance writing is great to get you off the ground, but remember you’re still trading hours for dollars. Find a way to convert your sills into a book, an information product, or a coaching program. You could also aims to leave writing altogether and become a business owner in the particular niche market you’ve served.

However, being just another freelance writer and becoming a “superstar” writer that everyone wants to work with are two different things. Superstar freelancers get paid 5-20 times higher, enjoy more time freedom, get more recognition and ultimately lead a much better life.

The good news is that superstar writers are made, not born. At Freelance Superstar I’ve teamed up with full-time writer and writing coach Monika Mundell to create the ultimate starting guide for future freelance writing superstars.
